ROOM ONE IS GROWING!

This week we welcomed Jayden and Sophia to our classroom! Next week we are excited to welcome Jax and Tunisia to the crew too!

Being a Learner-Book Day

We have had a great Book Week this week.
Each day we were visited by a different teacher to share our favourite story. The week finished with a dress up as a book character day on Friday.
Here are some snaps of our costumes!

We had a special celebration assembly where each class walked the cat walk and prizes were given out for best costumes!

Adel made it into the runners up for the Kakano team, with her Little Red Riding hood costume. Ka pai Adel!

Being a learner- making stones

We drew our faces onto stones so they can be set into the ground outside the hall. What a great opportunity for the children to leave their mark on Linwood North School.

Being a Learner- The big pool and the Whirlpool.

The Room 1 children took some great risks as they jumped into, floated and swam in the big pool. We had some very nervous learners as the lessons began and by the end they were confidently jumping into the pool to grab different objects.
Amazing bravery all round!

Mr Betts even got in the pool to encourage the children to be brave!

Lily impressed everyone by showcasing her swimming skills at the end of the lesson! Well done Lily.

At the end of our lesson on Friday the tamariki created a whirlpool by running around the outside of the pool. When the teacher shouts change, they have to switch direction and float in the whirlpool or keep trying to run against the current. I have a video but it's too large to upload. If you feel like playing 'spot your Room 1 learner', then come on in and ask to see the video :)

Being a Learner- WE LOVE SWIMMING!

We are into our second week of swimming now and it is great to see the confidence of the children growing. They have been learning to blow bubbles, put their head under the water, kick their legs, float and even to use their arms correctly to swim.
I am one very proud teacher! Amazing effort Room 1 :)
