Last Friday we were fortunate enough to have Donna from Imaginz come
and visit us at Discovery Time. She
brought two kits along and instantly our children were engaged in this activity
and keen to build creations. It was
wonderful to see the children working together to create a construction using
their problem solving skills. A
highlight of this equipment was that it came with tools that the children could
use.

Art And Alphabet In Room One
This week we have been learning the letter Kk. We brainstormed things that started with Kk and came up with King, kangaroo, kiwifruit, kiwi, keys and koala. As part of Reading we made crowns so we could be Kings and the girls could be Queens. We even put jewels on our crowns like Kings and Queens.
As part of Art we have been learning to draw ourselves. We drew our face and shoulders using pencil and then we traced over our lines with black marker. We also painted crowns and sprinkled glitter on them to make them sparkly. Then Miss Collins cut them out and stuck them on us. We did a great job of drawing our face and we remembered to put all of the things on our face like eyebrows, ears and a nose.
Don't we look very royal!

Our First Gold Awards
On Friday the 14th March Linwood North School had their first Gold Awards Assembly at St Chads Church. We walked down with our buddy class. It was exciting to be going to our first Gold Awards Assembly. We sang the National Anthem, watched a movie about Kokari's camp and listened to Karawha sing a song to us. Judah got the Good As Gold Award and badge from Room One this month. We look forward to lots more Gold Awards!

Ahoy Me Hearties - Pirate Party Cakes
In Room One we have been learning to identify the letter P, write it and find it in words. To help us learn the letter P, Miss Collins made us Pirate treasure Hunt. We all dressed up as pirates and had to find and read clues to work out where the treasure was. Miss Collins helped us read the clues. We had to go to a lot places that started with P like the pantry, a pigeon hole, the Principal and the photocopier.
Eventually we found the treasure by reading all of the clues and Mrs Woodhall
had it in her Office. The treasure was Pirate Party Cakes! They were really yummy!
We looked at the photos and we wrote about our Pirate Party Cakes. You can read these on the wall in our classroom.
We had lots of fun learning about the letter P!

Our Living Springs Camp
We had an awesome time at camp. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know all of the Year One and two children outside the classroom! We did lots of things including a bush walk, swimming, orienteering, rock climbing, playing on the tramps, mini golf, visiting a farm and riding on a horse!
A huge thank you to the Red Cross who made our camp possible.
