School Visit #2

On Thursday we had our second School visit and Lilly, Sammy, Olivia and Zoe came along.  Today we learnt about numbers and Miss Collins could see which numbers we knew.  It was a Maths day!

We read Pete the Cat and made a Pete the Cat with buttons popping off.  We also watched the video online about Pete the Cat.   Here are some photos of our Pete the Cat and below that is the video we watched.

After that we looked at numbers and Miss Collins discovers we could all recognise the numbers to 10.  She was very excited about that!  Next we practised writing rainbow number 4's and we talked about how it can look different in different writing or fonts.  After that we practised making numbers out of playdough.

After that we played a game of Pete the Cat recognise the number using a dice.  Miss Collins rolled the dice and we had to count the dots and colour in the number.  Miss Collins thought we were a bit clever because we could recognise the dots and didn't need to count them and then we could quickly find the number and colour it in.  Miss Collins is going to make this into a game for our class because now we know how to play it and it was lots of fun.

What a great school visit we had!  We worked out that in five more sleeps we could come back for another one!

Matariki Stars and the letter Ss

On Tuesday 26th our first Room 1 School Visits started.  We warmly welcomed 3 children to Room 1 and two more will join us on Thursday.  Mrs Tizzard came along for Tuesday's visit to spend time with our new learners.

We read a story about Matariki, sung songs and learnt the actions to the Matariki Macarena, made sparkly stars and wrote a story about making stars.  It was a busy but exciting morning!

Morning Messages in Room One

Each morning we have a morning message that we complete after we have done our jobs in the morning when we arrive at school.

Today's morning message was 'Draw a picture of your family and get Miss Collins to take a photo'.  We enjoyed completing our morning message and put lots of detail into them!  Here are some photos of us working on our morning message and our finished product.
